Windows goes Fanculo

Nico just posted a notice claiming Ubuntu having equalled Windows XP in Google Trends. While this is definitely nice, as it may mean people are no more looking for a Windows XP downgrade rather than for a Ubuntu switch, if you compare the full Windows vs Ubuntu you’ll find Ubuntu has still a long way to go.

Here comes the surprise, I repeated the Windows vs Ubuntu fight choosing only Italy as the scope of results.

Windows vs Ubuntu in Italy

If you look carefully, you’ll note that Ubuntu get’s searched roughly one third or the times than Windows. That brings to a search share of roughly 20-25%.

Definitely not bad.

This seems like a great time to subscribe my RSS !

Although, I am unsure about high Ubuntu search numbers… Is it really positive?
Every time I google with “ubuntu” in my search term, It’s because of a problem I can’t solve. I usually don’t google for Windows, so I have no idea what they may be looking for.

Not that windows doesn’t give you problems. And many time you look for applications, hardware compatibility or way to do this or that.

In general, I’d think that high search numbers = high interest.

True… True. Well, it’ll be interesting to see how this trend continues.

I saw your post over a the Ubuntu web blogs, nice find although you should probably stay off from using words like “fanculo” some of us did study Italian :D

    Please its just kind request.

    Thanks

@Orlsend: agreed, I went a little bit too far. Apologies O:-)

I agree with Jocke. Whenever you cannot solve an issue in windows, you don’t go: “Cannot change size of abc menu Windows”. That is because most problem solutions are documented for windows. However, if there is a problem with ubuntu, we’ll go: “Cannot get webcam working ubuntu” or something like that.
