Wow, I love rap.
I don’t believe that Ubuntu is censoring Mono Opposition. I don’t believe Mono haters infringed the CoC, not in most cases, at least.
I do believe Mono opposers sometimes get utterly annoying.
I believe also moderators are not careful enough and sometime just close discussions or mark-duplicate the hell-out-of-brainstorm just for the sake of (and because being bored, not having time, and so on). Or just because they can.
One thing I strongly believe is that the head of the Ubuntu Community have no interest at all in discussing the issue anymore. Nor letting people discuss that in any of the parts of the community, be it bugs, brainstorm, forums, mailing lists and so on.
In fact they even not care of providing a place for discussion to happen. Ubuntu does not care about Mono issues. It’s not that people are not allowed to talk. It’s that every place they find is the wrong place. There’s no such place inside the Ubuntu community facilities.
Not that I don’t find some bits of the Gnote thread regrettable.
Still one wonders how and where should those things be discussed.
As a side note tomorrow Fedora 11 will ship without Mono, because of space constraints. But they would include it if they could. Really !
The codename for the next fedora version sounds like a name of some russian drunk :E
BTW, just wonder, how they couldn’t fit everything in DVD (4500MB), when ubuntu always fits everything in single cd (700MB)…
Fedora /has/ decided to drop Mono from all installation media, including the DVD (which has plenty of space) for Fedora 12 due to potential patent issues. Mono will still be available in the repos, but they do recognize the problems with Mono and thus are not going to ship anything Mono-related in the default install starting with F12. I applaud them for this decision.
If you have an issue with any moderators (particularly on brainstorm) feel free to approach us in any of the relevant channels for the issue to be appealed. Particular issues with brainstorm are best fixed by reporting them to the administration team instead of broadly claiming they exist.
Nick,
When you say channels, do you mean IRC?
