Rapache gets a new home

The new official repository of Rapache is now hosted on Github at this address https://github.com/tacone/rapache A README.md file with instructions and notes has been added, and Observable.py has been relicensed to LGPL3. Other than that, it’s the same source code still available on Launchpad (which I have no control on anymore as I don’t have an account anymore, there). The Rapache project is currently non-active, and will be maintained just to keep it working on …

A step back from the open source

A step back from the open source

One month ago, I created my first Android app. While the app was a paid one, the reception has been outstanding. I’ve gotten a fair amount of mails from the users, encouraging me and thanking me for improving their daily life. This is something much different from what we experienced with Rapache. While there have been people speaking about it around, I dare to say it’s very little compared to Clip Ninja. Rapache has been …

Facebook shuts down EventPress development.

Facebook shuts down EventPress development.

When you’re a big company, especially one that makes its money on free web services and advertising, it’s very easy to say you love open source. I still have to mess with the packaging thing, and there are certain trade-offs, but anybody interested can finally download a working version. To install it run the following commands sudo apt-get …

Linux on Javascript

It may very well be an old news already, but it’s so amazing I just have to share it. Fabrice Bellard wrote a more or less full PC emulator in Javascript. And, unsurprisingly, Linux can run on it ! I’m not talking about ajax or some kind of client-server communication. Linux runs entirely in your browser, and uses the HTML 5 local storage as disk space. I say WOW, check it for out yourself: http://stud.hro.nl/0814604/jslinuxdemo/emulator.html

Steve Jobs passes away

Steve Jobs passes away

Steve Jobs passed away some hour ago. Love or hate Apple products, you still have to admit he had a big impact on the world. He proved that passion for beauty and simplicity and nicely crafted objects pays off, no matter what engineers say. RIP Steve Jobs. (oh, by the way, this video pisses me off)

SparkleShare, the new iFolder ?

SparkleShare, the new iFolder ?

Like already stated, the only thing Mono is really worth for, is creating DropBox competitors. Jokes aside, I came around this repository, today: https://github.com/hbons/SparkleShare   Will this work, will it not ? The first to give me good informations on SparkleShare will win a free copy of MonoDevelop. http://www.sparkleshare.org/
